This new and engaging range of qualifications has been developed in collaboration with professional bodies, employers

employees, and that the qualifications support progression pathways. LCCI offers a wider range of qualifications; they are available at levels 1 to 4 across the following subject areas:

Course Learning Outcomes

This course aims to assist candidates in developing a range of genuine skills that will be relevant to administrative roles in any business function; especially for those holding, or those who wish to hold, an

appointment as a private secretary and assistant to senior managers. Holders of this Diploma can progress to pursue the Certificate in Business Administration awarded by the Institute of Administrative Management (IAM). The aim of this qualification is to develop the candidates knowledge and general understanding of business organisation and what the influence on the business organisation and what

the success factor for business might be. Therefore, to highlight the contribution which the individual can make to the success of the business.

Entry Requirements

  • Age: 16
  • Academic requirements: Minimum 2 GCE O level passes (at least C6 in English and any other subject) OR 3 GCE N level passes (at least grade 5 in English and any two other subjects).
  • English Proficiency: Student whose first language or medium of instruction on their qualifying programme is not English will be required to demonstrate a proficiency of IELTS 4.5 or pass in BMC English Entry test.
  • Working experiences: Nil.
  • Matured candidate: At least 21 years old with 2 years of work experience.

Course Outline

Module Synopsis

The course provides an advanced secretarial qualification for those holding, or seeking to hold an appointment as a private secretary and assistant to middle and senior management. At the end of this

program, students will have - the competency to handle letters, reports and business documents; sound theoretical knowledge of secretarial abilities and attributes; and the ability and technical expertise to produce business communications from written instructions from written instructions in an appropriate, consistent and coherent form.

  • Business Administration
  • Business Principles and Practice
  • Marketing

1. Business Administration

The aim of this unit is to allow candidates to gain a deep knowledge and understanding and its

application in the key areas of administration and organisation, administration systems and procedures,

business services and management support.

Assessment objectives:

  • Understand the need for effective business communication
  • Be knowledgeable about effective business communication
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of accurate and timely information
  • Have an understanding of different administration systems and procedures and be able to plan ahead
  • Identify appropriate equipment and service suppliers and make recommendations on best business fit
  • Be knowledgeable about planning business meetings, events and travel

2. Business Principles and Practice

The Level 3 Certificate in Business Principles and Practice develops candidates understanding of the advanced principles and practices of business such as management and culture, operational and

financial management, strategy and business improvement. The qualification is suitable for people who want to develop their understanding of modern business management practices in order to improve

their business career opportunities and/or academic progression. It is particularly suitable for people who currently hold management positions within any of the functional business areas or those aspiring to such positions.

Assessment objectives:

  • The nature of economic activity and the internal and external environment and constraints in which businesses operate
  • National and multinational forms of businesses and their impact on the local economy
  • How businesses are functionally organised and managed in relation to corporate culture, image and identity
  • The different aspects of operational and financial management of a business
  • Strategic planning and the frameworks, models and strategies that may be used in strategic analysis and implementation
  • Business performance measurement and the frameworks and practices that may be used to improve performance.

3. Marketing

The aim of this unit is to test the candidates knowledge and understanding on the concept of marketing and the techniques applied to the marketing of goods and services. Candidates are expected to demonstrate: a broad strategic understanding and knowledge of the facts, terms, principles, definitions and concepts of marketing across the full range of marketing activities, including advertising, PR, sales promotion and market research; a sound understanding of current trends and change in marketing practice, brought about by technology and the Internet; the ability to apply this knowledge and understanding to real life marketing scenarios; the ability to illustrate their understanding through the use of real experiences, or created marketing examples; and communicate this knowledge and understanding using the correct reporting formats used in business.

Award Criteria

Candidates must fulfill at least 75% course attendance requirements to sit for examinations. To

obtain the certificate of attendance, students need to obtain at least a Pass grade in their

examinations.

Assessment Information

EXAMINATIONS ARE AVAILABLE THEORY / PRACTICAL PAPER (EXTERNAL AWARD BY PEARSON LCCI QUALIFICATIONS, UK) - 4 TIMES / YEAR [MARCH & APRIL (Series 2/On-Demand) / JUNE

(Series 3) / SEPTEMBER (On-Demand) / NOVEMBER & DECEMBER (Series 4)]. Assessment results / Award of certificate will be available to the students within 3 months of the last assessment for that assessment cycle.

Appeal Process

For Pearson LCCI examinations, appeals of results must be done within 14 days of results release. Students are required to fill up an appeal form and submit to our school to follow-up for processing of their request. An administrative fee for appeal is to be borne by the student. The school will release appeal results not later than eight weeks (for courses administered by external examination board) from the date of appeal, or an enquiry will be raised with the respective examination board.

Expected date of release of Assessment result

Assessment results / Award of certificate will be available to the students within 3 months of the last assessment for that assessment cycle.
