The BEng Honours programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering is directly awarded by the University of Hertfordshire, England. The University of Hertfordshire has a history of providing the electronics industry with highly professional, practical graduates.

Modern electrical and electronic engineering has rapidly evolved into many diverse areas. Mobile telephones, satellites communications, computers, automobile engine management systems and heart pacemakers are all examples of modern electronics. The generation and distribution of electrical power, the control of traction systems in high speed trains, electronic vehicles and urban transport systems, all require electrical and electronic engineering. Today's diverse communications (from traditional radio through to satellite and internet systems) place ever-increasing demands on electronic systems to carry information.

All of these areas demand highly skilled electrical and electronic engineers and technicians for equipment design, manufacture, commissioning and maintenance. University of Hertfordshire degree provides you with an educational experience which matches these requirements, whilst responding to your own individual aspirations.

Programme Structure

This final year top-up degree programme consists of 6 modules and one project and the complete programme consists of 120 credit points.It is conducted over 2 semesters of about 6 months each.

Entry Requirements

  • Relevant Diploma from local polytechnics in Singapore or equivalent national qualifications (or)
  • BTEC level 5 HND Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or)
  • Mature candidates (30 years old with 8 years of working experience) with relevant Diploma from other Private education institutes or equivalent qualifications.      

Language Proficiency: Students entering the programme  whose first language is not English or students whose medium of instruction on their qualifying programme was not English will be required to demonstrate a proficiency in English to TOEFL 550/IELTS 6.0 or an equivalent qualification

Module Synopsis

Power Systems

Study of modern power generation, control and distribution systems to include power system design, evaluation of stability and fault tolerance using appropriate software simulation tools and analysis of power flow control in transmission systems.

Microelectronics and VLSI

Develops design techniques further into the area of integrated circuit design, focussing particularly upon the demands of high-speed analogue and digital IC technologies. The analytical design process is supported by the use of relevant software design and simulation tools.

Telecommunication Systems

Expands and develops your knowledge of communication techniques to include digital and multi-user modulation strategies, channel coding and equalisation techniques. Learning is supported by practical analysis of typical systems.

Digital Signal Processing

Architecture and use of advanced dedicated processors for the manipulation of digital data. Software simulation is used for the evaluation of designs.

Intelligent Systems and Robotics

Extends existing knowledge of control systems to include the design and evaluation of fuzzy logic and neutral network-based systems, taught in the context of robotics.

Advanced Power Conversion and Control

Further develops understanding of analogue and digital electronics in the context of power control, particularly of rotating machines to include both practical and simulated design and analysis of intelligent power controlsystems.

BEng Final Year Project

An opportunity for you to demonstrate your abilities as an electronics engineer as you undertake a substantial individual project in your specialist subject area.

Programme Duration

Full/part time : 12 months.

Programme Delivery

Day/Evening classes taught by BMC Lecturers with Academic and industry experience.

Assessment and Grading System

Each module(except project module) is assessed for 100%, which comprise of course work(40%) and final exam(60%). The course work comprises of laboratory assessment and phase tests. Final year project module is 100% assessed on course work comprises feasibility report, interim seminar, demo & poster presentation and report.

The pass mark for each module is 40%. Both course work and final exam must be passed separately.

The degree classification is calculated based on the average of best 90 credit modules in which project module is compulsory.

  • First class Honours: 70% to 100%
  • Upper second class Honours: 60% to 69%
  • Lower second class Honours: 50% to 59%
  • Third class Honours: 40% to 49%

Expected date of release of Assessment result

Assessment results will be available to the students within 3 months upon completion of the last assessment for that assessment cycle. Appeal (if any) on assessment results must be lodged within 7 days after the release of assessment results.

*Terms  and  Conditions

  1. The scholarship is applicable only for the 20th cohort BEng (Hons) EEE course commencing on 4th June 2018.
  2. The Scholarship is ONLY for the Tuition Fee.
  3. The scholarship will not be given in form of cash.
  4. The scholarship will be given only to eligible candidates and the scholarship amount will be deducted from the original tuition fees.
  5. Students need to produce all necessary documents required by BMC International College for verification.
  6. The scholarship application period is from 15 May 2018 to 24 May 2018.
  7. The scholarship is limited to the first 10 successful applicants during the scholarship application period.
  8. All successful students are not eligible for other promotion/discount offered by BMC.
  9. BMC International College Management's decision is final.
