Armed with a strong belief that education is a noble profession and that no one including the less fortunate should be denied an education, Mr S M Maricar started a tuition centre in 1966.

With its establishment and tuition classes priced very affordably, and at times made free for the less fortunate students, saw a great number of school-going students receiving help in bringing them up to speed with their peers at school.

Today, BMC as one of the oldest private education institutions in Singapore has eight centres strategically located mainly in the heartlands to bring affordable education to the masses.

From tuition classes, BMC now offers a myriad of courses up to Master’s degree.

His motto which he coined in 1966 - ‘We’re approachable, affordable and active… Talk to us… You’ll be glad you did!’ - aptly describes what BMC is, i.e., Being Meticulous and Caring.

Mrs Ma who is BMC’s Management Representative has been with BMC for the past 29 years.

She exudes confidence, warmth, and friendliness amongst her staff and students.

These endearing qualities make her well-liked and well-respected.

Further, her dynamism is contagious that drives and motivates the employees to give their best.

Ms Susan Tan has been with BMC for over 32 years.

From just a junior staff when she first started, she is now the Finance Director managing the school’s balance sheet.

Her unflinching dedication and commitment to BMC has helped BMC become what it is today - an established private education institution offering affordable education to the masses.

Mr. Shah as referred to by his BMC colleagues, is a graduate of the oldest university in Australia, the University of Sydney, and is also conferred a Master of Education in teaching of English (with merit) degree by the said institution.

His research interests are in language education, English in Malaysia and Singapore, the standardisation of Malay/Indonesian language, and using ICT in language teaching.

Besides teaching English to speakers of other languages mainly Thais and Vietnamese, he also trains people in customer service and conducts the popular Microsoft Office suite workshops for beginners and intermediate users.

His broad experience in education has paved the way for him to restructure and develop innovative programmes for the academic department of BMC.

Dr.K.Balamurugan obtained his BEng., M.Eng and Ph.D degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering(EEE) from the Madurai Kamaraj University, India.

He has been with BMC since 2004. In 2008, he played an instrumental role in bringing in two Engineering degree programmes from the University of Hertfordshire, UK into BMC's plethora of courses. The pioneering batch of 23 Engineering students successfully graduated with honours with 9 of them being awarded First class honours degree by the university. He continued to play a major role in BMC signing a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of Hertfordshire to conduct top up degrees in business and computing one year later.

He has over 19 years of experience in the academic world out of which 17 years were spent in administration, teaching and researching in Singapore, Malaysia and India. In the middle of 2010, he took sabbatical leave from his work at BMC to do research as a post doctoral research fellow at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He completed the research work at the NUS in the middle of 2011. He is now back at work at BMC as the new Academic Director of BMC. With his vast experience and expertise, his new role will help steer BMC to greater heights.

Prior to his appointment in BMC he had successfully headed the EEE department of PSNA college of Engineering & Technology, India in obtaining accreditation status from National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.

Dr Bala is a member of IEEE(USA) and IEEE power and Energy society, Singapore Chapter.
